I’m outraged by the outrage around Margaret Court’s comments. Firstly I’d like to say, I disagree with her opinion, but the backlash and threats that she has received are a disgrace. Without freedom of speech we as a human race are doomed. Our politically correct society wrapped in cotton wool is coming at the expense and detriment to freedom and independence. Ironically, those that are so infuriated by her comments are responding with the restriction and ignorance that you yourselves have faced and are presumably fighting against. Once again I’d like to reiterate, I disagree with Ms. Court however she has the right to her opinion as much as Donald Trump, Anthony Mundine and Pauline Hanson do.
Now, more than ever, we need tolerance and understanding towards each other. We are all difference, we all have difference opinions but we must respect each other and not become sheep by chastising others and making everyone fall into line. Don’t believe everything you see and hear, whether it’s on TV, from your parents or your best friend. Listen, learn, and form your own opinion. Critically analyse but never sacrifice freedom of speech at the expense of a difference of opinion. In the end free will and the freedom of speech defines us all, and our difference and uniqueness is what makes us human!
